The subtext of
this project was to
solve how to add substantial living space to a storybook, circa:
1790’s trinity, without destroying the charm. The dwelling, which
had remained unchanged in a pristine, forested setting, had growing
pains from its owner of 20 years. Our solution was to configure a
two-level rear addition placed in split level relationships with each
of the 3 existing floors. By tucking behind the trinity, a
sympathetically scaled 800 square foot addition would provide
spacious, much needed relief to the tiny, if charming, original
structure. General alterations including the careful insertion of a
full bath, and improvements to the kitchen, powder room, living room
and upgrades to all mechanical/electrical services. All this work
was accomplished without sacrificing important original building
features and details.
